The Mission

Sustainable Tourism

Our goal

The mission at Vigilant Yacht Charters is to reduce our carbon footprint by being and promoting sustainable tourism here in Aotearoa. One of the ways to do this is by harnessing the power of the wind whenever physically possible.

Another easy way to reach our goal is to reduce our usage of single use plastics. This is done by growing all of our own food for the lunches, and encouraging passengers to bring their own reusable water bottles.

Supporting and volunteering for local non-profit organisations that promote healthy fisheries, marine sanctuaries and pest control is also a core value of ours.

Reducing our carbon footprint has never been so easy, or fun!

Homegrown goodness

Nik and Nat are passionate about spray-free organic homegrown foods. They spend their spare time growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables on their 10 acres of land in Russell. By studying permaculture and companion planting they have honed in their veggie growing skills. Instead of insectisides or sprays, their 4 pet Indian Runners; Dusty, Connors, Marvin and Moby duck are used to control those evil garden pests.

The fresh lunches are made with veggies hand picked that very morning. Not only are fresh veggies way tastier, eating local also reduces Vigilant Yacht Charters carbon footprint. We are one step closer to reaching the mission of sustainable tourism!
